Freshly Picked Moccasins

Freshly Picked Moccasins

In an attempt to make more room, I was going through Hadleigh’s old baby clothes the other day when and I came across 7-8 pairs of newborn/infant shoes that she never wore. Though they were adorable, they were stiff, tight, and heavy. Small babies don’t necessarily need shoes, but now that Haddie is almost 9 months old (OMG where did the time go!?), she is starting to pull up on furniture and she wants to stand with support. I am all about letting babies be barefoot, but there are some places where it’s just not appropriate.

A few weeks ago, we took Haddie to the children’s play area in a local mall and she was the only kid there without shoes. That fact alone didn’t bother me, but what did bother me was watching her stick her foot in her mouth about an hour later. I quickly removed her foot and I poured hand sanitizer all over it. It was at that point I realized that she needed shoes.

I didn’t want to get her just any pair of shoes because, being a COTA, I know that babies walk best barefoot. Little ones learn to walk by splaying their toes in an attempt to grip the floor. Babies just learning to walk do not need arch support and large, heavy, clunky shoes restricting them and making walking more difficult. Fortunately, a friend told me about her daughter’s super cute moccasins from Freshly Picked and how easy it is for her to walk in them. I did some research and decided to give them a try.

Now that she’s had her moccasins for a few weeks, I have to say that I’m very impressed. I love that they’re made with high quality leather because they’re flexible, breathable, and they provide protection. The moccasins mold with her foot and bend with her natural arch, making walking easier and more fluid. Another great thing about these moccasins is that they leave behind a small footprint on the bottom of the shoe, making them a cute keepsake. I’m so excited for Haddie to take her fist steps in these shoes so I can frame her tiny footprints.

What’s great about Freshly Picked is that they have tons of designs, adorable patterns, and cute, gender-neutral colors. I have to admit that I’m a little obsessed. It’s only been a few weeks since we got her first pair and she already has 3 more. They are just too adorable and I’ve grown accustomed to getting compliments on her mocs when she wears them in public.
